Bug in PopClip 1.2.2

22 December 2011

Today I released PopClip version 1.2.2 to the Mac App Store.

Unfortunately the update introduced a bug which causes it to crash when run on a Mac with a Japanese or Chinese keyboard layout.

It also fails to work properly (but doesn’t actually crash) with other keyboard layouts including Russian, Greek and possibly other non-latin keyboard layouts (I don’t have a full list yet — I’m still investigating the bug).

I’m very sorry If you have been affected by this. I am working on a fix. Unfortunately, it is not possible for me to ‘roll back’ to the previous version on the Mac App Store. Therefore I have removed it from sale in the App Store in Japan, China, Russia and Greece until the problem is addressed.

UPDATE: There is also a strange bug in v1.2.2 affecting Firefox users, where Firefox starts whenever you start PopClip.

UPDATE 2: I have withdrawn the trial version of v1.2.2 from the download page and reverted it back to v1.2.1 until a fix is ready.

UPDATE 3: PopClip v1.2.2 also crashes if Spell Catcher (the app by Rainmaker) is selected as the input source. This is entirely PopClip’s fault, please do not blame Spell Catcher!

The good news is that bug fix should be fairly simple. It will take a little time to make sure it is done properly, and then there will be a delay while Apple reviews it.

UPDATE 4: PopClip v1.2.3, which fixes all this, is now available.

Scroll Reverser v1.4

I just updated Scroll Reverser to v1.4; now you can independently set horizontal and vertical reversal, and also reverse trackpad, but not mouse, or vice versa. Get it from the Scroll Reverser page.

PopClip is out. Yay!

21 July 2011

It’s a new funky Mac utility app from me. It’s called PopClip and it’s on the Mac App Store for $3.99 / €2.99. Please take a look!

Scroll Reverser, now with PowerPC support

28 June 2011

Scroll Reverser just updated to v1.3, and it is now a Universal binary. This means any older PowerPC based Macs you may have can get Lion-style scrolling too.

As well as that, there’s a Greek language translation. (Thanks, ecsisis!)

Scroll Reverser — get in practice for Lion

23 March 2011

You might have learned that a certain upcoming version of Mac OS X may have scrolling that is “bass-ackwards”.

That is, when you push up on your trackpad or mouse scroller, the page content moves up too, just like on iOS devices.

I made a very minimal little app that lets you reverse your scrolling on 10.5 and above too. It’s a pure usermode app, no drivers or kexts to install. Uninstallation is a simple drag-to-trash.

Download Scroll Reverser (zip file, 0.2Mb; Mac OS X 10.5 and above, Universal binary)

The Scroll Reverser homepage is at: http://pilotmoon.com/scrollreverser.

The New DwellClick

16 February 2011

Here’s a sneak peek of what’s coming in DwellClick 2.0:

The video shows the major new feature: the pop-up panel which lets you instantly perform special clicks. There are more new things too, all will be revealed soon!

DwellClick 2.0 will require Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

All DwellClick 1.x customers will get DwellClick 2.0 free. Anyone buying DwellClick now (either on Mac App Store or on the Pilotmoon Store) will get 2.0 as soon as it comes out.

It’s not quite ready yet, but I will be looking for beta testers soon. If you’d like to be among the first to try it, email beta@pilotmoon.com, and I’ll get in touch when the first beta is ready.

Announcing DwellClick 1.5

26 January 2011

I’ve been beavering away at another update. I’ve included several improvments, including requests from users got in touch (keep the ideas coming! feedback@pilotmoon.com).

The improvements: “Set focus to control panel” now works better, there’s finer audio feedback control, a nicer way of loading, menu enhancements, and the click counter can now count!

To get it, check your updates now, or check it out on the DwellClick home page.

DwellClick on the Mac App Store

6 January 2011

I’m excited to announce that DwellClick is now available on the Mac App Store, which opens today — you can find it here.

The App Store offers easy one-click purchase using your existing Apple ID, and will also keep your apps up to date.

Please bear with me while I update the site with information about purchasing from the App Store. (It’s new for me too!)

UPDATE: You may find the App Store shows DwellClick as “Installed” even though you have not bought it from there. To get the “Buy” button, first remove DwellClick from your Mac by dragging it to the trash. Your preferences will not be affected.
